Ask Question?

Classic Physique Olympia champion Chris Bumstead secured the fourth successful defence of his title at the 2023 Olympia. With the thumping victory, he now has a total of five Classic Physique Olympia titles to his name.

Chris Bumstead is one of the most popular active bodybuilders today. His 2023 Olympia win is the proof of his competitive excellence that firmly backs the popularity. Over the years, CBum has conquered several adversities to remain on top of the Classic Physique division, which has become synonymous with the Canadian bodybuilder’s name.

At the 2023 Olympia, Chris Bumstead showed up with massively improved arms and a tight waist. He made several changes to his diet and training to bring a narrower waist at this year’s Olympia and conclusively defeated Ramon Rocha Queiroz and Urs Kalecinski to take home the Classic Physique title to Canada.

Meanwhile,Ramon Rocha Queiroz andUrs Kalecinski repeated previous year’s standings, finishing second and third, respectively. Although Kalecinski had a more shredded physique and Ramon Dino had also made several adjustments since winning the 2023 Arnold Classic Physique, their efforts were not enough to take down the dominant force that is Chris Bumstead.

CBum has always acknowledged the severity of challenges posed by the top contenders of the division like Ramon Rocha Queiroz, Urs Kalecinski, Breon Ansley and Terrence Ruffin. However, he has carried the burden of being a long-reigning champion really well, extending his Olympia winning streak to five.

He has spoken candidly about the pressure and the mindset that helps him deal with it on several occasions. Bumstead credited the mental fortitude for helping him get the fifth Classic Physique Olympia title in a recent Instagram post shared after the 2023 Olympia weekend concluded.

Bumstead wrote:

“I always understood it would be a mental game to stay at the top and I was willing to do almost anything to be mentally strong enough. But I was not willing to sacrifice who I was to win it. Who I became in the process of winning it. Champion mentality is the endless pursuit of being the best man I can be, Regardless of if this trophy comes home with. Though I have to admit it’s a pretty damn sweet bonus to have five of these now.”
